I was actually on my way to look at a MGB that I might purchase when I found my Miata. My intention was to purchase a little sports car that could be half project car and half fun car for my wife and I to take out on weekends and perhaps do a little touring. I really had no idea what a Miata was all about. After the first drive I came to the conclusion very quickly, that although similar is some ways this was no MGB and this little Miata could be a great deal of fun. Then after I purchased the car I found out there are Miata clubs, I mean allot of Miata clubs that this little car has a huge following. I guess sometimes it’s better to be lucky then smart. My wife Nancy and I have been active members a little over 3 years and have enjoyed all the rallies and events and look forward to serving as President in 2008. |

It gets in your blood - the wind whirling around your head, the sun shining on your face, and the smell of fresh air. Since my wife Barbara refused to look at my motorcycle, I decided to find a fun and affordable weekend toy that we both could enjoy. Then I found it - a 1991 white Miata with only 35,000 miles on the odometer. Barbara's comment - "You're not buying that thing." I disobeyed and now she is a big Miata fan. We joined the Indy Miata Club, met many new friends, and convinced others to buy a Miata and join the club. We all know that our Miata is more than just a car - it's our masseuse, our psychiatrist, and our alter ego.
As your new VP, I'm looking forward to helping Roger, his staff, and club members make this your most enjoyable Miata year ever. |

After a long history on street and dirt motorcycles, with one accident too many, I decided that a small roadster would be the way to maintain that open-air feeling, in a safer environment. And so the search began for my next passion! The final choice of brand was a no-brainer. Mazda had the best choice in the Miata, and the local (Gateway) Miata club was very active. Finding the specific Miata wasn’t too hard either. One local dealer provided several choices, so it wasn’t long before I drove my pre-owned ’99 Emerald Mica off the lot, looking forward to my new love affair. (I’ve now found a Gen. 1 to add to our stable.)
Since that time, it’s been a story of personalization (It’s almost perfect!) and club travels (Five Smokey Mountain trips). I’ve also been active in the local club, organizing drives and holding offices, in St Louis, and now in Indianapolis. Plus, we have many Miata friendships throughout the Midwest and East.
Is this a great car, or what? |

A member since 1994 with my Laguna Blue Miata, I'm happy to assist our club this year as membership director. We've got a big year ahead of us and I'm looking forward to our September 2008 Miata Midwest Gathering here in Indianapolis. As we move closer to the event date, we'll need many volunteers as we prepare to have a "Zoom-zoom" time. I'm counting on you to step up and participate for yet another great Miata event. |

As the club’s first Events Coordinator, I’m here to assist you in putting together YOUR event. Got an idea for a rally, a get-together, or any other kind of event? Let me know and I’ll help turn your idea into reality. My goal is to fill up the calendar with new affairs organized by members who have not previously hosted an event. Wouldn’t it be great to have something to choose from almost every weekend during the top-down season? Hosting an event really is a lot easier than you might imagine and we have plenty of experienced members who are more than willing to lend you a hand. So, get in touch with me as soon as possible to schedule your event and together we’ll make it happen! |

Although I don’t drive a stick very well, I enjoy being a proud navigator for Roger when we are out and about in our 1996 M Edition Miata. It started out to be just something for us to do since we are now empty nesters. We have found it to be the most rewarding and relaxing thing we have ever done as a couple.
Roger and I have been members for three years and since Roger is President this year, he needed someone to take notes at the board meetings. I had to be at the meeting anyway and was an easy target, so got voted into the office! I am proud to say that I am the first official Secretary for the IMC. |
